Hari Kiran, Founder & CEO of OpenSource DB, attended the United Economic BRICS Summit 2026 in New Delhi, engaging in discussions around AI, digital transformation, emerging technologies, MSMEs, and technology-led growth.

OpenSource DB at INDIAFOSS2026 Event
MeeSeva’s Journey from Oracle to PostgreSQL
Our Founder & CEO, Hari Kiran, took the centre stage at IndiaFOSS 2026 in Bengaluru, sharing the story of Telangana’s MeeSeva, a platform delivering 500+ government services to citizens.
The session highlighted how 85+ critical services were migrated from Oracle to PostgreSQL, with the transition completed in approximately 12 hours with zero data loss.
The migration also eliminated 100% of proprietary database license fees, while keeping every component of the technology stack open source.
“Every rupee spent on a proprietary database license is a rupee not spent on the public.”
This migration demonstrates how open-source technologies can support critical public infrastructure at scale, while reducing licensing costs and maintaining reliability.
We are grateful to the Government of Telangana (ITE&C and ESD), the OpenSource DB team, and the wider FOSS community for making this journey possible.
