OpenSource DB – October'26 Bulletin

📅 October Highlights

OSDB Hacktober Series 2026 | Second Edition

Building on the initiative introduced by Hari Kiran last year, OpenSource DB continues the Hacktober Series for its second edition this October.

The series features blog posts exploring open-source technologies, ideas, and contributions, encouraging knowledge sharing and wider community engagement.

OSDB at Postgres US Summit 2026

Postgres Women India (PWI) participated as a Community Partner at Postgres US Summit 2026, held from September 30 to October 2.

Hari Kiran, Founder & CEO of OpenSource DB, represented OSDB on October 1 with two sessions:

  • Tech Talk: From Oracle to Postgres for 40 Million Users: What a National G2C Migration Actually Looks Like

  • Leadership Roundtable: How Much of Database Migration Can AI Really Automate?

The participation strengthened OSDB and PWI’s connection with the global PostgreSQL community through knowledge sharing and collaboration.

OpenSourceDB at Open Source India 2026

Hari Kiran presented the story of Telangana’s MeeSeva ESD migration from Oracle 11g to PostgreSQL at Open Source India 2026 in Bengaluru.

The session highlighted how 500+ critical citizen services were migrated with zero data loss, while eliminating proprietary licensing costs and reducing infrastructure requirements by 67%.

The OpenSourceDB booth was managed by Hari, Amar, Siva, Keerthi, Chandini, and Praveena, engaging with attendees and introducing them to OSDB’s work and PostgreSQL solutions.

The presentation demonstrated how PostgreSQL and open-source technologies can help deliver cost-effective, reliable digital public services.

OpenSourceDB at Postgres Pune 2026

Hari Kiran represented OpenSourceDB at Postgres Pune 2026, presenting “From Insight 1.0 to 2.0: Solution Engineering Postgres in a Regulated, Nation-Scale Tax Platform.”

The session explored how PostgreSQL can power a regulated, nation-scale tax platform, covering high availability, cross-region disaster recovery, performance benchmarking, and secure AI integration using pgvector.

Adding to the excitement, OpenSourceDB and the MeeSeva project were also featured in The Hindu.
